Proven Investment Strategy
River Cities seeks to produce superior risk-adjusted returns by partnering with high growth companies that fall within the optimal combination of sector, stage, and geography. The objective is to retain most of the dramatic return potential from high-growth opportunities but with less risky, more consistent outcomes. There are three main elements to our strategy: sector, stage, and geography.
1. Sector: River Cities invests primarily in high growth Information Technology (“IT”) and Healthcare companies that leverage technology to make their customers’ businesses or products/services better, faster, or less expensive. Within IT and healthcare, the business models that make up the River Cities portfolio generally fall into one of five sub-categories:
2. Stage: River Cities invests primarily in expansion stage opportunities with revenues in the $3MM to $15MM range. We will however invest in extraordinary companies that have revenues outside of this range if we have great confidence in the management team, see the value proposition of the product or service, and fundamentally believe they have evolved far enough along the concept versus execution risk curve to validate the business model. 3. Geography: River Cities concentrates its activities in the Midwest and Southeast stretching north-south from Minnesota to Florida, and east-west from Virginia to the plains states. We have systematically built a robust and broad network across this territory that adds significant value to our portfolio companies and facilitates the due diligence process we undergo to understand potential investments.
